Bacteriospermia assessment and its relationship with conventional seminal parameters in stud dogs ejaculates (Canis familiaris)

چکیده

The objective of this work was to determine the frequency bacteriospermia and its effect on seminal quality in canines. Dogs were divided into two groups according weight: small dogs between 1 10 kg (Group 1) with more than 2). foreskin disinfected each animal (n=15), semen sample collected by gloved hand method. Sperm motility, morphology, viability, concentration evaluated using a 40x microscope. A 10µL drop cultured diffusion method blood agar MacConkey agar. Colony-forming units (CFU) quantitatively evaluated, biochemical identification carried out after 48 hours at 37°C. Conventional PCR performed samples evaluate presence/absence 11 bacteria. Bacterial growth found all samples. CFU/mL 34042.8 for group 107714.3 2, while 142.9 CFU/mL, 21328.6 respectively. Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus most frequent bacteria isolated conventional culture (64.3%), aureus Klebsiella spp. common PCR. Between both groups, only statistically significant difference normal sperm morphology. negative correlation observed viability morphology CFU One dog ruled because he had azoospermia. Canine is quite could alter quality. presence Gram-negative associated greater alteration analysis.

Incentive contrast in domestic dogs (Canis familiaris).

Dogs (Canis familiaris) trained to receive a preferred food (dry beef liver) from an experimenter learned to maintain a longer gaze on the experimenter than dogs receiving a less preferred food (dog pellets). Dogs downshifted from dry liver to pellets rejected food more frequently than nonshifted controls. Gaze duration also decreased in downshifted dogs below the level of a group always reinfo...

Do dogs (Canis familiaris) understand invisible displacement?

Domestic dogs (Canis familiaris) perform above chance on invisible displacement tasks despite showing few other signs of possessing the necessary representational abilities. Four experiments investigated how dogs find an object that has been hidden in 1 of 3 opaque boxes. Dogs passed the task under a variety of control conditions, but only if the device used to displace the object ended up adja...

How dogs lap: ingestion and intraoral transport in Canis familiaris.

It has recently been suggested that the mechanism for lifting liquid from a bowl into the oral cavity during lapping is fundamentally different in cats and dogs: cats use adhesion of liquid to the tongue tip while dogs 'scoop' with their backwardly curled tongue. High-speed light videos and X-ray videos show that on the contrary, both cats and dogs use the mechanism of adhesion. Liquid is trans...

Comprehension of human communicative signs in pet dogs (Canis familiaris).

On the basis of a study by D. J. Povinelli, D. T. Bierschwale, and C. G. Cech (1999), the performance of family dogs (Canis familiaris) was examined in a 2-way food choice task in which 4 types of directional cues were given by the experimenter: pointing and gazing, head-nodding ("at target"), head turning above the correct container ("above target"), and glancing only ("eyes only"). The result...

Aggressive Bimodal Communication in Domestic Dogs, Canis familiaris

Evidence of animal multimodal signalling is widespread and compelling. Dogs' aggressive vocalisations (growls and barks) have been extensively studied, but without any consideration of the simultaneously produced visual displays. In this study we aimed to categorize dogs' bimodal aggressive signals according to the redundant/non-redundant classification framework. We presented dogs with unimoda...
